"I'm just sick", longtime U-D Jesuit basketball coach Pat Donnelly told the Free Press. "It's just devastating. The nicest kid".

An Amtrak train struck and killed a teenager who was a member of the Albion College men's basketball team on Saturday evening.

According to WWMT, the Albion Department of Public Safety identified the victim as a 19-year-old male student from Albion College.

The Albion Department of Public Safety reported the crash at 8:30 p.m.at a crossing near Erie Street in downtown Albion.

On the Albion College Men's Basketball Team roster, Winston is quoted as saying he chose to attend Albion because "it felt like a second home ever since his first campus visit". Zachary missed the game dealing with a hamstring injury.

A statement addressed to the Albion College community from Albion College President Mauri Ditzler said "Last night, our family lost a student. The student's family has been notified, but we are not releasing the name of the student at this time".

Cassius Winston and his Spartans are ranked No. 1 in the sport. The westbound train was delayed 3½ hours at the scene until the investigation was completed. We have been in close contact with the student's family and are doing everything we can to support them. No other injuries were reported.

Zachary was a member of Albion's basketball team along with Khy Winston, both of whom played against Michigan State on October 29.

The family was recently celebrated during an exhibition game between Albion and Michigan State at the Breslin Center.

Zachary Winston is survived by his two brothers and their parents, Reg and Wendi Winston of Detroit.

Albion police said the incident was a suicide.

At this time, it is unclear whether Cassius Winston will play Sunday against Binghamton.
