Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante suffered an injury prior to France's clash with Iceland, as reported on the Daily Mail. Deschamps had earlier surprised some observers by choosing Lucas Digne at left-back when Lucas Hernandez had been tipped to recover from a knee problem to start.

Olivier Giroud was the focal point in attack, supported by Antoine Griezmann, with Kylian Mbappe on the injured list along with midfield playmaker Paul Pogba and Hugo Lloris, the goalkeeper and regular captain of Les Bleus.

He is a doubt for the game against Turkey on Tuesday but France boss Didier Deschamps does not believe the problem is overly serious.

France would announce via Twitter that Tottenham's Moussa Sissoko would replace Kante in the team to face Iceland.

The midfielder's club side will also be sweating over his fitness.

If he isn't fit, Lampard could replace him with Ross Barkley or Mateo Kovacic, who were both named on the bench for last weekend's 4-1 win at Southampton.

Chelsea are now 10 points behind Liverpool in the Premier League after eight games, but just two behind second placed Manchester City.
