17-year-old boy first vaping-related death in NY

The death toll from vaping-related illnesses is approaching two dozen in the U.S, with about 1,000 cases of illnesses, according to the CDC.

The governor's administration says it's received 110 reports from NY physicians of severe pulmonary illness among patients between the ages of 14 to 69 years who were using at least one vape product prior to becoming ill. He was re-admitted later that month and then died October 4th.

According to the New York Post, New York health officials believe the teen was sickened by vaping cartridges containing THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. All reported using at least one vape product prior to becoming ill.

Also on Monday, school districts in Kansas, Missouri and NY sued e-cigarette maker Juul. It is affecting our young people.

About 20 people died nationwide for vaping-related illnesses, with thousands sick in what Cuomo described as a "public health crisis" on Tuesday.
