Meanwhile, the ISRO on Thursday said officials of the California Institute of Technology (CalTech) and the JPL visited its headquarters and met its Chairman K Sivan.

On September 2, the Vikram lander successfully separated from the Orbiter to reach the lunar surface.

Even though the lender has not broken, the hard landing of Vikram has made it difficult to maintain communication with the lander.

ISRO has several future missions planned which include the human spaceflight mission, a joint mission with NASA and also a mission to the sun.

The Lander Vikram was to soft-land on the far side of the moon at on September 7. Besides Chandrayaan 2's own orbiter, NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter is also revolving around Moon.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has managed to find to its moon lander Vikram on the lunar surface.

The reference was to Prime Minister Modi's presence at the Isro's space centre to watch the Moon landing, the first soft landing attempted by India.

How much time does ISRO have to track Vikram Lander? "The attempts will be made till September 20-21 when the sunlight will be there in the area where the Vikram has landed", an ISRO official was quoted as saying by IANS. "It is in a tilted position", the official associated with the mission claimed. The agency that lost all communication with it last Saturday has 14 days, equivalent to one lunar day, to establish contact with Vikram lander. In the southern polar region, the temperature could fall to as low as -2000 degree Celsius during this period. During the lunar night period, instruments on board the lander could get damaged.
