The epic match was a virtual quarter-final match played on March 27, 2016 between India and Australia in World T20.

The rumour gained value after India captain Virat Kohli's tweet on his predecessor.

In recent times, there has been a lot of speculation over Dhoni's future in worldwide cricket.

Dhoni took a sabbatical from cricket after India's 50-over World Cup campaign ended in the semi-finals.

Given the magnitude of the queries regarding Dhoni since morning, his wife Sakshi Dhoni took to her social media handles to clear the air. However, the former India skipper left everyone surprised by not only deciding against retiring but also taking a two-month break. Thus, there is absolutely no clarity over Dhoni's future. Selectors and the BCCI had been bombarded with similar queries after Dhoni decided to make himself unavailable for the West Indies series.

Dhoni, however, had already made it clear he would not be available for both the West Indies tour and South Africa series at home for various reasons - he went for a training stint with the Indian Army before the former and was on vacation in the United States of America after that, putting him completely away from cricket during this period. Amidst all these, Kohli's tweet only served as a fuel to the fire.

However, chief selector MSK Prasad quashed the rumours while announcing Team India's squad for the upcoming Test series against South Africa.

"Its called rumours!".Its called rumours!

India are set to host South Africa in three T20Is starting from September 15 from Dharamsala. The chase didn't start according to the plan for India as both the openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan couldn't make up for the dot balls played.
