Critics are raving over Jennifer Lopez's turn as the savvy ex-stripper at the centre of a scam ring in "Hustlers", a performance that launched her into the awards race overnight following Saturday's Toronto International Film Festival premiere.

As Kotb, 55, read a few of the reviews lauding Lopez's performance, the mother of two smiled as she tried to compose herself.

Palmer was also just announced as the co-host of Good Morning America and she has a new movie, Hustlers, coming out next week. "Obviously, I'm flattered. You work so hard your whole career. I love doing this and it doesn't matter, but it does matter - it does make you feel like all my hard work is being recognized, and that's nice". Lopez added, "I was literally sitting in my bed yesterday and they were sending me all the reviews". Lopez said with a laugh. "I was like, 'Oh my God'". "You have dreams when you're a little girl of being [at the Oscars], you know what I mean?"

While the Oscar nominations are a few months away, Lopez said, "Just to talk about it is unbelievable".

In Hustlers, Lopez stars as Ramona, the head of a popular and successful strip club who aims to get the upper hand on her Wall Street clients with the help of her crew.

Based on a true story, the "Hustlers" features a star studded cast including Cardi B, "Riverdale" actress Lili Reinhart and "Crazy Rich Asians" star Constance Wu.

Jennifer Lopez's latest film might result in her first Oscar nomination.

"J Lo can't and won't be stopped", said Variety's Matt Donnelly, who also called the film "empowering".

Hustlers hits USA theatres on September 13 and NZ cinemas on October 10.
