An updated Galaxy Fold: Can Samsung pull it off?

With the expanded presence of Chinese phone makers in India, Samsung realized that it was time to revamp its budget and mid-range strategy to court buyers.

Samsung has certainly worked well to adapt its apps to the device, but what happens when a third-party developed app is launched without taking into account the specificities of this new category of smartphone? The device can be configured with up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB of storage. It will then roll out 4G and 5G variants to the USA and other European markets in the coming weeks. These include Spotify, Amazon Prime Video, App in the Air, Facebook, iHeartMedia, Twitter, VSCO and - perhaps most importantly from a practical point of view - those from Microsoft. They are some of the largest apps in the world, so it's a big deal that they'll work on Samsung's new halo smartphone. On-screen controls are also supported, but let's be honest, they're entirely inferior. Galaxy A30s features an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The latest software update for the Samsung Galaxy A50 brings firmware version A505GNDXU3ASH4 and is sized at 210.70MB, reports TizenHelp.

According to Samsung fan site SamMobile, the Galaxy Fold will be covered with a standard one-year warranty and an extra warranty that will give users an Infinity Flex Display replacement for a discounted rate in case it breaks for any reason.

Samsung highlights features like App Continuity and Multi-Active Window that arose out of its collaboration with Google.

The phone also supports Samsung Pay via NFC and has a fingerprint sensor embedded into the display for fast unlock.

"When Android 10 rolls out and becomes the new standard for Android devices, it will lead more developers to keep foldable-phone users in mind when developing apps", said Sally Jeong, vice president of Framework R&D Group at Samsung's Mobile Division. That includes not just the underlying Android platform but also apps like Maps and YouTube.
