Some worldwide carriers also have banned the MacBook Pros. That is great because nobody wants to go down in a plane because of a faulty battery. These MacBooks have a battery issue that can cause them to catch fire.

Still, if there's a chance you have a MacBook model that could be subject to recall, head on over to Apple's support page to double check whether your laptop is good to fly or needs a new battery.

Last June, MacBook announced a recall of some of its 15-inch MacBooks from 2015 and the reason is as everyone fears from such recalls. About 432,000 MacBook Pros with faulty batteries were sold in the USA, according to a Canadian air safety notice cited by Bloomberg, while another 26,000 were sold in Canada. Roughly 26,000 units sold in Canada were impacted, too, while the number sold in Europe hasn't been disclosed. "Avoid carrying recalled batteries when flying until repaired/replaced per manufacturer instructions".

It also reminded airlines of rules issued in 2016 that prohibit them from transporting any products recalled over safety issues in either the cabin or as cargo until the products have been repaired or replaced. Given the process of figuring out which is which, however, expect that bringing MacBooks to flights will be more troublesome than usual.

"Please note that the 15-inch Apple MacBook Pro laptop, sold between mid-2015 to February-2017 is prohibited on board any of our mandate carriers", a TCE operations coordinator wrote to employees. Pictures of a MacBook Pro that experienced this problem show a battery that burned through the laptop's outer casing.

First, click the Apple icon in the upper left of your screen and select "About This Mac" from the dropdown menu.

The agency told Bloomberg in a statement that it's "aware of the recalled batteries that are used in some Apple MacBook Pro laptops". If the page says your computer is fine, then you can fly.

This sounds like a lot of fun for everyone involved - including the people waiting in line behind you at the boarding gate.
