"We had the lead and we've let it slip through our own decision making", Lennon told BBC Scotland. You've got to do the basics well - you've got to stop crosses, close people down, get your head on things - and it was nearly as if we scored and wanted to switch off.

Cluj were well worthy of a point last week if not more and they should take heart from the fact that Celtic conceded easily against them last week as well as two goals on Saturday.

"We've only ourselves to blame". If you don't do the basics defensively well enough then at this level you get punished.

Whether Mikey Johnston plays in the game is uncertain as he is set to undergo a late fitness test.

However, Billel Omrani converted a penalty after captain Scott Brown handled and, although Ryan Christie restored Celtic's lead again, Omrani and George Tucudean struck to earn Cluj a shock win.

"In the first half we were so passive", said Lennon. "The second half we really had a lot more urgency but the goals we conceded are insane".

It seems Cluj are keen to downplay any chance they have in an effort to heap pressure on Celtic, manager Dan Petrescu had said Celtic are like Barcelona, and now according to Paun they need a miracle to qualify in a tie that seems fairly balanced to the common eye.

That being said, Celtic should be the favourites, with an away goal in the bank, and the firepower from middle to front, we should see Celtic score a couple of goals.

Lennon also defended his decision to start midfielder Callum McGregor at left-back in place of summer signing Boli Bolingoli.

"I'm really disappointed for them because there are a lot of good, young, creative players in there who played very well at times tonight".
