The original track, which features Billy Ray Cyrus, recently earned Diamond status and has been at Number One on the Billboard Hot 100 for 14 consecutive weeks.

A couple of hours after he fired off the above tweet, Lil Nas X - real name Montero Lamar Hill - tweeted: "Ok mariah carey lets get this remix in" which, at this point in 2019, could honestly end up happening.

The track also ruled the Official U.K. Singles Chart and it's held top spot on Australia's singles survey for eleven weeks.

After trolling with Gordon Ramsay following "Panini"'s release, Lil Nas X has taken meme culture to new heights with his new "Old Town Road" remix featuring Young Thug and Mason Ramsey (of Walmart yodeling fame).

The music video has been viewed more that 200 million times since its release in May.

But, Lil Nas X isn't done ridin' the Old Town Road's success.

During an interview with TIME back in April, Lil Nas X credited Thug for popularizing the "country-trap" sound heard on "Old Town Road".

"I believe whenever you're trying something new, it's always going to get some kind of bad reception", he said. Young Thug began the campaign to bring cowboy aesthetics to rap music.

Now the young star is looking to milk the song further with a new remix following the huge one featuring Billy Ray Cyrus.
