Back the Rangers to cover +1.5 at -125. Lefty Framber Valdez (3-4, 4.57 ERA) is expected to be called up from Triple-A Round Rock to take the mound for the Astros. First pitch is set for 8:05 p.m. ET. He is second on the Rangers to All-Star left-hander Mike Minor in bWAR (3.9) and is 5-0 with a 2.85 ERA over his last seven starts with 53 strikeouts against just four walks over 47 1/3 innings. We scored runs, played good defense.

Lynn has thrown at least 100 pitches in 10 consecutive starts, the second-longest streak in the majors this season - Washington's Max Scherzer had 12 games in a row with at least 100 pitches until last month. Its top-rated money-line picks have now returned nearly $1,700 on the season for $100 bettors, and anybody who has been following it is way up. You can only see that pick at SportsLine. Bregman was the exception, playing in 88 of the Astros' 90 games prior to the All-Star break earlier this week.

The upstart Rangers slumped a bit down the stretch of the first half, losing six of seven games before pulling out a 4-1 win in 11 innings at Minnesota on July 7.

Joey Gallo doubled and plated Delino DeShields, who also doubled, before scoring when Rougned Odor added a two-run double that also drove home Danny Santana. He has hit safely in 11 straight games and has homered in five straight. Manager Chris Woodward said Pence, who didn't get to play in the All-Star Game after being voted in as the AL starting DH, would probably have another game at Frisco.

The model also has taken into account that Texas is one of the best home teams in the majors. They are still very much in the thick of that Wild Card hunt, sitting 3 games back of the final spot, but they need to get back to winning, especially at home, where they are 29-17. Lynn in particular has been formidable at home, with a 7-0 record in nine starts at Globe Life. The Rangers should be able to keep this close or win outright.
