"We were pleased with the outcome and I thought some of the performances, particularly from some of the young lads, were really good".

Chelsea full-back Cesar Azpilicueta has said that Frank Lampard's lack of experience will not be an issue.

The Spaniard explained: "We know fans can make the difference".

Pedro featured in Lampard's first game in charge this week - a 1-1 draw with Bohemians - and has since been speaking about what the new Chelsea boss wants from his team.

Kovacic, who was on loan at the Blues last term, was able to join permanently due to him already being registered as a Chelsea player.

"I'm looking forward to working with [Lampard] a lot - he was an awesome player and he showed last season that he is a good coach as well".

The Stamford Bridge icon was confirmed as Chelsea's head coach last week and immediately headed to Dublin to begin the Blues' pre-season tour.

Unlike the English Premier League, the Irish league ends in October, meaning that Bohemians are now in the middle of their domestic season.

"All of the club, we are very excited, and the only way we can carry it is by starting and winning together, getting the feeling back of being all together as a club".

And Azpilicueta has hailed the impact his former team-mate has had on Chelsea's squad, acknowledging that displays under former coach Maurizio Sarri were not always up to scratch. We are the players, we are not here to choose the manager or the others so now I think this it's in the past. "Every year gets harder and harder and we have to be ready". We are very happy to have him with us. 'We're not going to win anything thinking about the past, complaining. Michy Batshuayi struck early before the Londoners conceded an equaliser in the 89th minute but this could not detract from the energising effect of the new manager.

"He was here for a very long and very successful period, and always set an example: how he wanted to break every record or improve himself in every session". 'Now, the next stage for him is as a manager and he is our boss.

"But, over his first week in training, I've seen the way he wants to play, the way he wants us to feel the shirt, the way he wants us to train every day, it is something special". "We have to because we want fitness and intensity in our game".
