ABC announced Thursday that the upcoming sixth season of How to Get Away with Murder will be its last.

Davis plays Annalise Keating, a brilliant attorney and professor at a Philadelphia law school, where she teaches her no-holds-barred views of justice and life and enlists her students in her cases and misadventures.

Series creator and executive producer Pete Nowalk called ending the show a "brutal decision", but said the story demanded it. "For me, Annalise Keating's journey has always had a clear ending". The role also earned her two SAG Awards, a People's Choice Award, and an NAACP Image Award. "Knowing I have 15 episodes left to finish her story, and the chance to give all the characters their own killer endings, is a gift rarely given to a series creator".

The major question left to answer, besides where the heck Laurel (Karla Souza) and baby Christopher are, of course, is whether everyone will actually end up getting away with murder, or whether the show will end with them all in prison for their many, many crimes.

"Viola Davis made television history with her unforgettable portrayal of iconic female anti-hero Annalise Keating", ABC Entertainment President, Karey Burke, said. I also want to thank our fans. You can check out a teaser for the killer final season, which will premiere on Thursday, September 26, now in the player below! I can't wait for you all to see how it ends, with twists and turns and all the craziness we love to create every Thursday night.

Joining Davis in the ensemble cast are Billy Brown, Jack Falahee, Aja Naomi King, Matt McGorry, Charlie Weber, Liza Weil, Conrad Ricamora, Rome Flynn and Amirah Vann. The series is produced by ABC Studios.

"I'm grateful to ABC and ABC Studios for the opportunity and creative freedom".
