Fernandes was one of the standout midfielders in European football last season, scoring an impressive 32 goals and creating 16 assists in all competitions for Sporting Lisbon.

Fernandes helped Portugal to win the inaugural Nations League on Sunday, and speaking after the game, the midfielder delivered an update about his future.

And he says: "I will use the coming days to take in all the news".

That's the opposite of the situation at Manchester United, who are making a move for the player regardless of Paul Pogba's future at the club. I don't need to move, I'm not trying to leave.

Interest in Fernandes is said to be high, with Sky Sports suggesting Liverpool will have to rival both Tottenham and Manchester United in the pursuit for the midfielder.

The Red Devils are expected to be busy in the transfer market in the coming weeks as they look to further bolster their squad ahead of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first full campaign in charge at Old Trafford.
