Actor Cuba Gooding Jr will turn himself in to New York City police on Thursday (US time) to face allegations he groped a woman at a Manhattan night spot, his lawyer said.

Gooding was accused of groping the 30-year-old woman around 9 p.m. Sunday while he was "highly intoxicated" inside Midtown's Magic Hour Rooftop Bar and Lounge on Seventh Avenue, the woman claimed.

"I trust the system, and the process speaks for itself", Cuba told the publication. He also said "absolutely not" when asked if he was guilty. "There's a tape that shows what really happened - that's the most important thing".

Sources told the website Cuba is planning to turn himself into NY police to face questioning for a misdemeanour charge of forcible touching, where he will be accompanied by his lawyers, Peter Toumbekis and Mark J. Heller.

The woman in the alleged incident told police she was with friends when she was confronted by a male patron whom she described as Gooding Jr., according to the law enforcement source. The actor said he went to a bar, talked and took pictures with people, and left.

The woman reportedly called 911 around 1 a.m., according to the news outlet.

Attorneys for Gooding did not immediately respond to requests for comment or confirmation.

One-time Academy Award victor Cuba Gooding Jr. has been known more for his partying lifestyle than acting his recent years - as his last notable performances were in both 2016 FX anthology series' The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story and American Horror Story: Roanoke.
