Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek set to miss Europa League final with injury

Chelsea battled the MLS campaigners in a post-season clash in Boston, winning 3-0, with Maurizio Sarri publicly expressing his worries about game before Gunners' clash in Baku.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek came out of the dressing room on crutches. He was helped back to the dressing room for further treatment by two of the medical staff, and departed the stadium on crutches and wearing a protective boot on his left foot, returning to the team's base in a vehicle away from his teammates.

And now Loftus-Cheek failed to complete the contest after limping off with a suspected ankle injury.

Speaking during his post-match, Sarri applauded the objective the friendly was put in place, as Chelsea were in United States of America as part of their "Say No To Antisemitism" campaign.

Wednesday's game, which took place just three days after Chelsea concluded their gruelling Premier League campaign, was billed as the "Final Whistle On Hate" with funds raised going to organisations who combat hate crimes.

"Travelling so far away and returning Friday morning before a Sunday match is tough, " Sarri stressed.

Eden Hazard, Pedro, David Luiz, Ross Barkley, Jorginho and Olivier Giroud were among the starters, with Gonzalo Higuaín, Loftus-Cheek, Willian and Cesar Azpilicueta all coming on at the break. Loftus-Cheek told Sky Sports.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is furious with club chiefs for sanctioning the Blues trip to the United States of America for a postseason game before their Europa League final showdown against Arsenal. Four of those came in the Europa League, in which he has been a regular.
