Marquette was set to return the top seven scorers from a 24-win team that spent part of this season nationally ranked, which is why the Golden Eagles were No. 7 in the initial CBS Sports Preseason Top 25 And 1 college basketball rankings.

Sam Hauser will have to sit one year before playing his final season because he will not be a graduate transfer.

Shocking news coming from the Marquette men's basketball program Monday, as Sam and Joey Hauser will leave the program and transfer.

Meanwhile, this is a major blow to Marquette's hopes in 2019-20.

"I want to thank Marquette University for the countless opportunities it has granted me with over the past three years", Sam Hauser wrote on Twitter. Joey Hauser started 31-of-34 contests in his lone campaign in 2018-19 and chipped in 9.7 points and 5.3 boards per outing.

Sam Hauser is a 6-foot-8 forward with one season of eligibility left.

Two brothers who have helped Marquette reach their recent successes are leaving the program.

"Sam, listed 6'8" and 225 pounds, averaged 14.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game past year. Similar to his brother, Joey is an excellent shooter, too (42.5 3P%); both finished with true shooting rates above 58 percent this season.
