71-year-old man arrested on 100 counts of child rape

A 71-year-old man was arrested on 50 counts of first-degree rape April 9.

Officers with the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office said investigators were made aware of the accusations on April 1, when it received a complaint about sexual misconduct involving children, according to a statement.

An investigation allegedly uncovered evidence supporting the allegations that Fountain had perpetrated the sexually-based crimes upon minors at various locations he had resided in the Pineville area. Fountain, in turn, was re-arrested and re-booked on the new charges.

Fountain's April 9 booking into the Rapides Parish Detention Center in reference to the warrants. Fountain's bond was initially set at $500,000, and he now remains in jail. But by Friday, detectives identified other apparent victims while Fountain was in jail, and authorities re-arrested him on 50 more counts of first-degree rape.

He was charged with 216 counts rape of a child, 216 counts involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, 216 counts aggravated indecent assault of a child, 216 Counts statutory sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the news website.

In Louisiana, first-degree rape includes rape of children under the age of 13.

Phillips said he can not yet disclose how many children are alleged to have been raped. There is no statute of limitations on such charges.

Phillips told DailyMail.com that he believed Fountain worked for a local glass company at the time of his arrest. A grand jury date has not yet been set.

Due to due to the case being an ongoing investigation as well as the sanctity of the case, Phillips told DailyMail.com they are unable to share more.

"After additional interviews, additional victims were located", Phillips said, though he would not say how many. It wasn't immediately clear whether Fountain has a lawyer.
