Game of Thrones Final Season Premiere Sets New Record

On the strength of a much-hyped return for monoculture juggernaut " Game of Thrones", HBO released the cross-platform viewership numbers for its Sunday night programming.

In addition, te HBO NOW streaming service saw a jump of approximately 50% in viewing when compared to last season's finale and almost doubled (97%) when compared to the seventh season premiere.

Barry, a tense dramedy starring Saturday Night Live alum Bill Hader, followed Thrones and saw its best night ever with 2.2 million viewers.

This Game of Thrones intro has received various reworks nearly every season to reflect ongoing developments in the story, but never has it changed so much than in season 8. Season 8 is sure to burn that record right up. The Season 8 premiere number also topped the show's Season 7 finale, which had captured the attention of 12.1 million viewers. Tweeters beware!
