Say hello to a new Star Wars game - Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

As a single-player game with no microtransactions, Fallen Order avoids the primary criticisms of EA's previous entries in their series of multiplayer Star Wars games; Star Wars Battlefront and Star Wars Battlefront II.

"It's testing an enemy, finding their weakness, figuring out how to exploit it". The news hit the interwebs days after JJ Abrams admitted there wasn't an over-arching storyline planned for the sequel trilogy and that each director was given the freedom to take their episode in whichever direction they saw fit. Johnson, Benioff and Weiss are all great storytellers who have a tremendous passion for the fantasy genre and Star Wars in particular. While last week fans were high on the anticipation of Star Wars 9-which we now know is titled Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker-the excitement was undercut a tad when Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that after Skywalker, the films will be taking a bit of a hiatus. She mentions that Jedi: Fallen Order was likely in development before EA acquired Respawn, thus giving the studio a leg up on creative decisions.

Fallen Order™ is an action-adventure game that sets you on the run from the Empire as their sinister Inquisitors try to hunt you down.

Recent rumors suggested that Benioff and Weiss' Star Wars films could be set in The Old Republic, a popular time period in the Star Wars universe popularized by BioWare's Knights of the Old Republic game featuring iconic characters Darth Revan, Bastila Shan, and Darth Malak. As you unlock new powers and abilities, opportunities open up to re-traverse maps in new ways; leveraging the Force to augment the way you explore. As for the actual combat description? After hearing about an upcoming Star Wars game again in 2019, it's understandably hard to let yourself be excited, but despite the doubt and disappointment that hovers over the Star Wars game franchise, perhaps not all hope is lost.

It was handsome, it was raw and it had a weight to it that no other film in the series has been able to capture so far. If Fallen Order can mix that visceral gameplay with the intelligence of the best lightsaber duel of all time (MEGA STAR WARS REBELS SPOILERS IN THIS LINK!), I'd be game for the end result when it arrives this November.
