Madrid were believed to be in the driving seat for the 21-year-old, with a recent report claiming that the European champions have a "verbal agreement" with the Brazilian.

The Spanish giants announced the transfer on their official website this morning.

Real Madrid have completed the €50 million (£43m/$57m) signing of Eder Militao from Porto, with the defender set to link up with them on a six-year contract.

Interestingly, the centre-half, who also doubles as a right-back, featured 20 times for Porto in the Portuguese topflight this campaign, netting two goals along with two assists.

In another statement on their website, the club said: "Eder Gabriel Militao will join the club next season and is already a full Brazil global".

MARCA reported that an agreement had been made between Real Madrid, Porto and the player while a payment to Militao's former club Sao Paulo was yet to be finalised.

"He comes from Porto, where in his first season he has become one of the main protagonists of the Portuguese League".

"His speed, positioning and anticipation are his greatest assets, while he is also strong in the air".

"His superb performances have led to him making his full Brazil global debut in a clash with El Salvador in September 2018".

The 21-year-old has caught the attention of Europe's biggest clubs with his performances for Porto in what is his first season in Europe.
