Bayern Munich veteran Franck Ribery has said his side are not afraid of Liverpool, ahead of the Champions League round of 16 meeting between the sides at the Allianz Arena next week.

Bayern, meanwhile, have won all but two of their most recent 11 matches and their 5-1 thrashing of Borussia Monchengladbach last Saturday allowed them to move level on points at the top of the Bundesliga table with Borussia Dortmund.

The tie is well placed after the Bundesliga champions secured a goalless draw at Anfield and the Reds have plenty of work to do if they are to join fellow Premier League sides Manchester United and Tottenham in the hat for the next round.

They are also through to the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal and are looking to reach the same stage in Europe.

"The games against Liverpool are very important".

"We're in a good mood and we're playing at home". Coman is on his way back and we're hopeful for the Liverpool game.

"We have confidence in our good performances, we're not afraid of Liverpool. I'm really motivated", he added.

"The potential loss to injury of Kingsley Coman is a blow for the German side but they are in superb form, unrecognisable from the first couple of months of the season".

The team who beat Liverpool in the final last season, Real Madrid, were knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday, with AFC Ajax shockingly getting the win against the Spanish giants.

The 35-year-old has only started 18 times in all competitions under Niko Kovac this season, but he insists there is no problem with the coach.

"I'm fit for the game and I could play".
