If you're having trouble accessing Google Gmail right now, you're certainly not the only one.

Google said it was aware of "an issue with Google Drive" starting at 7:53 p.m. We'll be updating the post when we learn out more.

However, Google has acknowledged that both services are affected with problems ranging from not being able to access Gmail or Google Drive completely to are seeing error messages, high latency, and other unexpected behaviours, according to Google via their G Suite Status Dashboard.

Various websites that track Gmail problems and outages, showed a spike in users reporting problems with the email service from about 1pm AEDT (2am GMT). "Check your network and try again".

The issues were not isolated to Gmail for some people.

Down Detector's live outage map is showing that some of the worst hit countries at the present time include Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan and the United States.

Not being able to send an e-mail is causing major struggles for anyone who uses their account for work and pressing personal matters, and people are expressing their frustration on Twitter using #Gmaildown to connect with others on the issue.

Google hasn't released an official statement yet but is responding to individual users on social media. This story will be updated as more information comes in.
