Other parents charged include Manuel Henriquez, the chief executive of specialty finance lender Hercules Capital; Gordon Caplan, the co-chairman of worldwide law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher; Bill McGlashan Jr., who heads the buyout investment arm of private equity firm TPG Capital; and Douglas Hodge, former CEO of investment management firm Pimco.

The Oscar-nominated actress was seen inside the Edward R. Roybal Federal Building in Los Angeles, after she was taken into custody on Tuesday.

Loughlin, best known for her role in the ABC sitcom Full House and the recent Netflix sequel Fuller House, is married to clothing company founder Mossimo Giannulli, who was also charged in the scheme.

A representative of Huffman did not immediately respond to HuffPost's request for comment.

The indictment explained: "Beginning in or about 2011, and continuing through the present, the defendants - principally individuals whose high-school-age children were applying to college - conspired with others to use bribery and other forms of fraud to facilitate their children's admission to colleges and universities in the District of MA and elsewhere, including Yale University, Stanford University, the University of Texas, the University of Southern California, and the University of Southern California, Los Angeles".

The Justice Department charged multiple ACT/SAT administrators, a college official, nine athletics coaches and 33 parents, U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling said at a news conference Tuesday in Boston.

While it has been made apparent that a majority of the students involved were unaware their parents had gone to such extremes in order to guarantee their admission into these Ivy League universities, the internet is particularly angered by Loughlin's 19-year-old daughter, Olivia Jade Giannulli's lack of interest in her studies.

On paper, she seemed an excellent applicant to the University of Southern California: an SAT score in the 96th percentile, along with an impressive record as a varsity water polo player who won her high school team's "most valuable player" award.

Other prominent individuals indicted in the scheme include William McGlashan, the CEO of a private equity firm, and Jane Buckingham, the president of a Los Angeles marketing firm.

The coach, Rudolph Meredith, resigned in November after 24 years running the women's soccer team. His lawyer declined to comment.

According to the Washington Post, the scam, which the Federal Bureau of Investigation is calling-and I promise I'm not making this up-Operation Varsity Blues-involved at least one college admissions advisor, William Singer, taking approximately $25 million dollars in bribes.

The bribes allegedly came through an admissions consulting company in Newport Beach, California.

The indictment was filed by the United States attorney for the District of MA, and the documents outlining the racketeering conspiracy charges were unsealed on March 12. None of the children are being charged for now.

Court documents showed that Huffman and Macy met with a cooperating witness at their home in Los Angeles, where the witness told the couple he "controlled" a testing center for college entrance exams and could have their daughter's SAT answers secretly changed, AP reported.

Wake Forest said in a statement it had placed head volleyball coach Bill Ferguson on administrative leave after he was among the coaches accused of accepting bribes.
