"Addressing the public in Gorakhpur after launching #PMKisan Scheme, PM Modi said he is fortunate that he got this opportunity to do something for the farmers".

Gorakhpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme here on Sunday.

The prime minister said the scheme has been made foolproof so that no one can take away the right of the farmers.

AIR correspondent reports that PM Modi will also distribute certificates to selected farmers and will interact with some of them through video conference. Another one crore farmers are expected to be covered in the next two to three days.

"When we announced this scheme in Parliament, their faced dropped fearing that now Modi will get the blessings of the farmers", he said, alleging that the loan waiver of Rs 52,000 crore done by the UPA government before the last general election was a farce. The scheme envisages providing income support to supplement the financial needs of the eligible farmers in procuring various inputs to ensure proper crop health and appropriate yields, commensurate with the anticipated farm yields, he added.

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana was announced in the interim Budget 2019-20. "Loan waivers benefit only a select few". Desh ke 1.1 crore kisaano ke bank khaaton mein is yojna ki pehli kisht transfer karane ka saubhagya mujhe mila hai.
