The singer-songwriter, Ryan Adams, has been accused of sexual misconduct according to a new report from the New York Times published on Wednesday, February 13th.

More than a dozen people spoke to The New York Times, with several saying that Adams would promise career opportunities, but if they rejected his advances, he would become emotionally and verbally abusive. Ava, who herself was an aspiring musician, says her experiences with Adams "just totally put me off to the whole idea" of pursuing music.

One of the victims claims she was just 14 when the artist sexted her and exposed himself to her via Skype, and said people would compare him R. Kelly if anyone found out about their relationship. She plays bass, and it wasn't long before their chats about music and a career turned into phone sex.

The paper reports that Adams and "Ava" exchanged thousands of graphic texts during a nine-month period when she was 15 and 16. Adams reportedly questioned Ava's age, but didn't seem entirely convinced - Adams allegedly wrote to her in November 2014: "I would get in trouble if someone knew we talked like this".

Also through his attorney, Adams believes that numerous women who are accusing him of the aforementioned behavior are just upset their careers didn't work out the way they wanted and are thus taking it out and laying the responsibility on him.

Adam's label, Pax-Am, is connected to Capitol Music Group, meaning his influence could have easily pushed an established artist like Moore to greater heights, but he also sought out new and undiscovered talent.

Sometimes you get stuck to the spiritual equivalent of a soggy piece of cardboard'.

Moore says that he was psychologically abusive and would lord his accomplishments over her.

"His controlling behavior essentially did block my ability to make new connections in the industry during a very pivotal and potentially lucrative time - my entire mid-to-late 20s", 34-year-old Moore said to the Times.

In retort, Adams' lawyer denies that Adams ever stopped Moore from working with other producers, claiming instead that he was supportive of her "well-deserved professional success". After discussing marriage less than a week into their relationship, he became "obsessive and emotionally abusive". "I want to make music", she said. Then I realized how many painkillers I was taking.

"What you experience with him - the treatment, the destructive, manic sort of back and forth behaviour - feels so exclusive", Moore says. He said the article paints an "upsettingly inaccurate" picture and that details are "misrepresented; some are exaggerated; some are outright false".

Actress Mandy Moore, star of the hit drama This Is Us, was married to Adams from 2009 to 2016. I would never have inappropriate interactions with someone I thought was underage.

This is so astoundingly close to the "what the fuck did you just say to me, you little bitch" copypasta meme that it's nearly easy to believe it's parody - but considering Adams nearly immediately deleted his post, it was probs legit.

"I am not a flawless man and I have made many mistakes", he tweeted. However, he apologized "deeply and unreservedly" for causing unintentional hurt.

"Then, the first day, he asked me to bring him something in his hotel room", she said. "And I wish everyone compassion, understanding and healing".
