Michelle Obama's appearance at the Grammys Sunday night surprised millions watching at home - including the former first lady's mother, who wanted to know if she met any "real stars" while she was there.

But don't tell that to her mom, Marian Robinson.

Mrs. Obama shared a text exchange she had with her mom on Grammys night, when Mrs. Robinson seemed to imply that her daughter never informed her she was going to be at the awards show.

"I guess you were a hit at the Grammys", Robinson texted Obama with a smiling emoji.

While sitting down with her daughter and CBS's Gayle King, the matriarch revealed that she moved into the White House with the first family in order to ensure that her granddaughters, Malia and Sasha, were able to grow up with as much normalcy as possible. And when Obama later told her mother that "I Am A real star... by the way...", Robinson issued a single-word response: "Yeah". I just had to share it with all of you.

Obama: And I am a real star...by the way...

In a few hours the post has had nearly two million likes and over 30,000 comments.

Obama replied, her trailing off familiar to any child who ever tried to have a diplomatic exchange with a parent.

Robinson lived at the White House with her daughter during her son-in-law's tenure as president.

Obama shared the entire text chain on her Instagram account, and wrote that she had also told the audience at her appearance on her book tour stop in Phoenix about it. The butlers, the housekeepers. When the kids were still little and they needed to have someone be with them in school.
