These four original shows will then culminate in the team-up special Marvel's The Offenders.

Smith and Willis will both write and executive produce the new series, which features the titular Howard the Duck stuck in a world that he never made. With the hope of his "Gal pal" Beverly, Howard hopes to return home before he can be cooked by the evil Dr. Bong.

Writers Erica Rivinoja and Chelsea Handler serve as executive producers for Marvel's Tigra & Dazzler Show, "about two woke superheroes and best friends, Tigra and Dazzler, as they fight for recognition among powered people who make up the eight million stories in Los Angeles".

Josh Gordon and Will Speck plus Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum are the respective driver's seats for Marvel's Hit-Monkey and Marvel's M.O.D.O.K. In the meantime, Marvel and Hulu are set to created animated programs around characters such as MODOK, Hit-Monkey, and Howard the Duck.

Of the celebrity names on that list, Smith and Oswalt stand out as contributors with significant comics experience-though Smith has always been associated with DC heroes like Batman and Green Arrow. He now appears on the NBC series A.P. Bio, the Syfy series Happy! This new show will focus on M.O.D.O.K.'s struggle to maintain control of his evil organization and his demanding family.

Finally Hit Monkey is a "brutally amusing revenge saga" about an assassin money with a stylish outfit, thanks Josh Gordon and Will Speck. They are repped by CAA and Management 360.

The character of Hit-Monkey first appeared in a 2010 issue of Deadpool, and is a "wronged Japanese snow monkey, mentored by the ghost of an American assassin". Rivinoja worked on the story for the film Girls Trip and her previous writing credits include shows like The Last Man on Earth, South Park, and Grounded for Life.

Marvel Entertainment's shift away from Netflix became clearer on Monday with the announcement of a massive new multi-series initiative, dubbed The Offenders. Most of those were canceled in recent months, though season three of Jessica Jones has yet to air.

The creative and critical success of Marvel's The Defenders series over at Netflix wasn't enough to save the interconnected shows from Hollywood politics. A fifth show, The Punisher starring Jon Bernthal, debuted its second season in January and a decision regarding its future is still pending. There have been successful Marvel animated series for Disney channels, but nothing for adult Marvel fans.
