Dallas Mavericks guard Wesley Matthews (23) drives to the basket past New York Knicks forward Mario Hezonja (8) during the first half at Madison Square Garden.

Once Matthews officially became a free agent, he reportedly had interest from several teams, including the Thunder, but the 6-foot-5 guard ultimately agreed to join the Indiana Pacers. NY waived the 32-year-old on Thursday.

"We're excited to welcome Wesley to the Pacers", team president Kevin Pritchard said.

Matthews was sent to the Knicks from the Mavericks in late January as part of the Kristaps Porzingis trade. "He's a solid professional who we feel strongly will help us the remainder of the season and into the playoffs".

Terms of the deal were not available. He was in the final season of the four-year, $64 million deal he signed with Dallas in July 2015.

He's a career 38.2 percent shooter from 3-point range.
