Recall, however, that the Snapdragon 855 used for the demonstration should equip the future Samsung Galaxy S10 in the United States during its expected release for Spring 2019. In addition, the Dallas-based carrier said it would work with Samsung to create a 5G "innovation zone" focused on manufacturing technology.

This Samsung S10 concept brings together numerous leaks and rumors floating around out there to give us a glimpse of what we might expect from the brand's next Galaxy smartphone lineup.

It's a 5G smartphone prototype from Samsung with a huge screen cutout at the top-right corner.

It's been clear for a while now that 2019 will be the year of 5G, and it's little surprise at this point that the Snapdragon 855 will support "multi-gigabit" data speeds on 5G networks as they light up around the country. Intel will not have 5G-capable chips ready in time for the commercial production of smartphones in 2019, per the report. While each new generation of Snapdragon usually finds its way into flagship Android phones, it's unclear which models will run the Snapdragon 855 with 5G connectivity. As we have reported in the past, Samsung plans to launch multiple variants of Galaxy S10 so there's a chance that Samsung will tweak the overall design of the device as well.

As for Verizon, the company has only just begun rolling out its 5G home internet service this year to four cities, including Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, and Sacramento.

"Samsung offers end-to-end solutions that are accelerating the wide scale adoption of 5G and help us realize our vision of truly connected living", said Justin Denison, senior vice president, Mobile Product Strategy and Marketing at Samsung Electronics America.

However, 5G won't burst onto the smartphone scene.

Either way, early 2019 will give us a better idea of what to expect with 5G. And then, the Qualcomm ultrasonic sensor comes into the picture.
