Gurira, who springboarded her popular role in The Walking Dead to a breakout role in 2018's Black Panther, will reportedly exit the AMC show after appearing in a "handful" of episodes in season 10, which will air throughout the season. Gurira officially joined the cast during Season 3 and has been a fan-favorite ever since.

Speaking of the big screen, Danai Gurira is a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having appeared in Black Panther and Infinity War.

Just months after the show saw the departures of lead Andrew Lincoln and co-star Lauren Cohan, multiple reports Friday claimed Danai Gurira would be exiting the show following its 10th season. However, it's been posited that she could appear in the Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) spin-off movies. Like Rick, the character is still very much alive in the comics, so this will be another big diversion from the source material.

Yet, that didn't happen and her days on the show are now numbered.

So far, AMC and representative for Danai have declined to comment on her leaving the show. AMC programming president David Madden had this to say about the actress back in November.

"She is an incredibly valuable character, and I'm really hoping she stays. Right now, she's got a lot of opportunities, and she needs to weigh what she feels is best for her".

"We really want her to stay", he said.

"The goal is to have Danai continue on whatever basis she can make work, given the other things that she has going on in her life".
