Toyota has whipped the covers off a new RAV4 TRD Off-Road model at the Chicago Auto Show in the United States, giving its fresh-faced, fifth-generation SUV an updated suspension set-up, new wheels and bespoke tyres "engineered specifically for trail driving". Immediately noticeable is the revised seatback fabric on the new 10-way power adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support. However, this model hasn't just been created to go off the beaten path; The TRD Pro Sequoia is more technologically advanced than other models featuring updated equipment with more driver-assist features and complete with Android Auto, Apple Carplay, and Amazon Alexa.

When it comes to rolling stock, the Sequoia TRD Pro rolls on TRD 18- by 8-inch black BBS forged aluminum wheels wearing P275/65 R18 tires, which complement the new trim-exclusive Army Green color that's available in addition to the regular palette. Additionally, a new LED bed lamp is available as an option on all models. If you opt for the TRD Sport or above, you'll get keyless entry.

Not that we were expecting anything radical; after all, it's not a new model but rather a facelift for the Tacoma - after all, it's been America's best-selling mid-size pickup for 14 years running. TRD Pro black leather-trimmed seats with red stitching complement the interior.

Underhood, the Tacoma retains a standard 2.7-liter inline-4 rated at 159 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque, although most trucks are built with a 3.5-liter V-6 that puts out 278 hp and 265 lb-ft.

Much like the other TRD Pros-Tacoma, 4Runner, and Tundra-the package has a complete suspension package from Fox.

Most 2020 Tacoma trim levels come standard with rear-wheel drive and offer a part-time four-wheel-drive system.

When it comes to hauling the family around, there are plenty of big SUVs out there to choose from.

Prices for the new Tacoma and Sequoia TRD Pro will be announced closer to their on-sale dates later this year. A TRD-tuned Fox internal bypass shock suspension is the main tool needed for the task, providing the vehicle with 7 compression zones and 2 rebound zones, as well as an increase in rebound travel of 18 mm.
