Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel revealed midfielder Marco Verratti had suffered another injury setback in a blow to the Ligue 1 champions.

The Italy worldwide did not feature during the extra time victory at Groupama Stadium, despite having been back in training after a recent sprained left ankle since the beginning of the week, and the source explained that Verratti was out on the pitch again on Thursday.

Manchester United will host PSG in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 at Old Trafford next week.

But Tuchel confirmed on Wednesday that the 26-year-old had encountered a fresh injury and could not finish training.

"Marco was unable to finish training on Tuesday", he is quoted as saying by ESPN. "He had problems", he said.

"I usually prefer Kylian to be the finisher - when he's our last line of attack against the opposing defence", Tuchel told a news conference.

'I don't want him to take on Neymar's responsibilities of providing assists and keeping possession in the last few yards. We will wait for training on Friday to see if they will play on Saturday.

"Both strikers need to be the finishers, that's the most important thing".

The news of Verratti's comeback will come as a welcome boost to the French side who are already without star player Neymar, who will miss both legs of the tie against United after fracturing his metatarsal.
