Naomi Osaka is still exhausted after her long Australian Open run and she will not be able to compete at the Qatar Total Open in Doha that starts next week.

"I am sorry to have withdrawn from Doha this year as I was looking forward to playing and seeing my fans there", said Osaka. She had been scheduled to compete in Doha as the top seed in the competition but will now have to wait her time before returning back to the tour.

The Japanese, who last month won a second successive grand slam by beating Petra Kvitova in the Australian Open final, suffered a similar problem past year that saw her miss the Hong Kong Open.

No more details were given about the injury but Osaka, 21, also withdrew from the Hong Kong Open last October because of problems with her back.

Meanwhile, Qatar Open is all set to see the participation of players like Simona Halep, Karolina Pliskova, Angelique Kerber, and Kiki Bertens.
