MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A day after trading Marc Gasol to Toronto, the owner of the Memphis Grizzlies says the franchise will retire the center's No. 33 jersey some day in the future.

Gasol, 34, has been linked to a couple of Eastern Conference teams, but he's reportedly heading to the Toronto Raptors. Originally drafted in the second round by the Jazz out of high school in 2005, the 6-foot-5 wing player had played for Utah (2005-12), Cleveland (2012-14) and in (2014-17) before signing a three-year deal with Toronto last offseason. The Grizzlies would also get Toronto's 2024 second-round draft pick.

ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the news.

With the craziness that comes with deadline day every year, it was nearly easy to forget the Association's real mid-season spectacle - one that involved a pair of prominent Raptors - didn't get going until the evening.

The New Orleans Pelicans held onto Davis but dealt Nikola Mirotic to the Bucks, one of the Eastern Conference contenders who fortified their teams on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019 before the National Basketball Association trade deadline.

Despite the fact that his name was mentioned in trade rumors for some time during the lead-up to the deadline, however, 3 p.m. came and went without Conley getting traded.
