The Lakers have played 17 games since Christmas and have gone 6-11 during that span.

LeBron will not have a minutes restriction, per coach Luke Walton, who added that the Lakers will keep a "close eye" on their superstar's conditioning considering he has been out for the last 17 games.

Per Chris Haynes, LeBron James is returning from a groin injury tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers.

The suggestion LeBron could be rusty after such a long layoff was swiftly dismissed as the 34-year-old finished just one assist short of a triple-double.

James, who was hurt in the Lakers' win over Golden State on December 25, was initially listed as out for the Thursday night game on Wednesday, and then upgraded to doubtful on Thursday morning.

"Definitely ecstatic about being back out there with my guys, but being out five weeks, I'm feeling it right now", James said afterward. Prior to falling to one game over.500 on January 24 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Nov. 11 was the last time the Lakers were that close to even on their record.

And he'd better get himself back in the swing of things as quickly as he can- the two-time defending champion Warriors are coming to Staples Center this weekend.

"I'm about 80 [percent] right now, but I was good enough to feel confident and push throughout the game", James said.

"I'm looking forward to see how I feel tomorrow. We are starting to get our depth back".

Lou Williams scored 24 points off the bench to lead the Clippers, who had won 22 of their previous 25 matchups against the Lakers. The losing skid dropped them to the ninth seed from the fourth seed.

Los Angeles sits just one spot back of the playoffs and have a realistic shot at the playoffs with a healthy LeBron back on the court.

Tied 118-all, James scored the go-ahead basket in overtime.

After upping his rehabilitation this week, the four-time NBA MVP finally made his comeback against the Clippers, James scoring 24 points in a 123-120 victory.

Williams couldn't get a potential tying three-pointer off in the right corner before the final buzzer sounded.
