A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect for counties along and south of Interstates-88 and 290 until 3 a.m. Sunday.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for portions of east central, eastern, south central and southeast Virginia, including Williamsburg.

Across the Midwest, thousands were without power Saturday due to a winter storm.

Officials cautioned of slippery road conditions and limited visibility on roadways.

Temperatures will likely hover in the upper 20s to low 30s overnight and through the morning. The Virginia Department of Emergency Management, State Police, Virginia Department of Transportation, Virginia National Guard and other pertinent agencies are already mobilizing and preparing for the impact of this storm, according to the governor's office. Midway International Airport saw 3.7 inches, while downstate Pontiac received Illinois' highest total at 9.3.

Some flurries and snow showers are still possible throughout the morning hours on Monday, but for the most part we will be staying on the drier side of weather with a few peeks of sun coming out. As a result, drivers were advised to allow extra travel time, reduce speeds and increase their following distances, the weather service said. Colder pavement temperatures will also create several slick spots on untreated roads.

"Forecast models are hinting at a return to winter weather", forecasters said on Twitter. Keep in mind to give crews room and time to plow roads. VDOT's Facebook page will be updated throughout the storm.
