Brad Stevens Praises Marcus Smart For Defusing Jaylen Brown-Marcus Incident

The incident, which unfolded in the second quarter of a 115-99 loss in Miami, appeared to stem from a sequence in which Brown missed multiple shots near the rim and then failed to hustle back on defense. "Heck, I remember those things happening to [Rajon] Rondo and Perk [Kendrick Perkins]".

Frustrated with Brown's defensive effort, Morris shoved Brown while jawing at him for not getting back on the play.

While Stevens doesn't want to make too much of the flare up, it nevertheless was another low point in what's been a disappointing junior season for Brown.

"Obviously we struggled out of the gate, more offensively than I thought (would happen)", said Stevens. "The record being what it is, I think we've got a lot of room to still improve, but I think we've also shown we can do a few things".

"It's just adapting, " said Brown. Celtics need to make a big run to make to make up ground on the rest of the Eastern Conference. It doesn't matter who you're going against. "We all got called out as players by teammates, and we did our share of calling out teammates when things weren't going right".

That is what the Celtics as a team are hoping happens in the second half of the season. After catching the pass, Tatum took one dribble toward the baseline and fired up a step-back jumper from 21 feet away over a great contest by Birch. It matters the type of preparation you have, what you're going out and trying to accomplish. "I feel as though I'm one of the leaders on this team so if I have an engagement with any of my teammates, we all know that it's basketball related and it goes nothing past the court". These are things I don't think some of my team-mates have faced just every single day.
