Billboard also reported that Coachella isn't the first festival West has pulled out of over the same last-minute dome idea, as he was nearly a headliner for Governers Ball in New York City before promoters turned down the request.

So the festival shuffled things around, giving Tame Impala the headlining sets on Coachella's Saturdays and locking in Ariana Grande to replace West on the festival's two Sunday nights.

West had been locked as one of the Coachella headliners until January 1, a day before the 2019 lineup was officially announced, a new Billboard report reveals.

West reportedly grew angry here, Billboard notes, "declaring that he was an artist with a creative vision who shouldn't be spending his time talking about port-a-potties".

According to Billboard, West said the stage - one of the largest in North America and which has hosted the likes of Beyonce's extravaganza past year - was not big enough for him. At one point, he hung up during a phone call with festival organizers.

Kanye's representatives have declined to comment on the report.

Executives from Coachella promoter Goldenvoice told West it was impossible. This reportedly irritated the rapper, who said it was the company's job to handle the bathrooms before hanging up on execs, according to sources. Instead of coming to an agreement, Coachella secured Ariana Grande as a replacement. Braun had terminated his professional relationship with West in early December, Billboard has learned, marking the second split in 2018 between the mega-manager and the rapper.
