Aquaman Crosses $1 Billion at the Worldwide Box Office

Here in Ireland, "Aquaman" has made €1.318 million and has managed to stay within the Top 5 of the Irish box office for the past four weeks.

While the highest grossing film int he DCEU, it is third overall for DC films with The Dark Knight Rises being number one with $1.084B, and The Dark Knight being number two with $1.004B. Aquaman is the first of the six films in the D.C. Extended Universe to cross $1 billion worldwide according to Box Office Mojo.

At this point, it seems likely that Aquaman will just about have enough in the tank to surpass The Dark Knight Rises, making it the most successful DC movie of all time. As Entertainment Weekly reminds us, ticket prices have been rising over the years, which may inflate figures.

Where Aquaman has really shined is at the foreign box office.

This is Aquaman director James Wan's second film to cross the $1 billion mark at the global box office.

Aquaman the fifth movie released in 2018 to pass $1 billion at the global office; the others were Avengers: Infinity War ($2.045 billion), Black Panther ($1.346 billion), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ($1.309 billion), and Incredibles 2 ($1.242 billion). He also said Jason Momoa's performance as Aquaman will help the character become the "gold standard for this character for generations to come".
