The advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service from midnight tonight to 6 p.m. Saturday.

A Winter Storm WARNING for Snow means severe winter weather will make travel very hazardous or impossible.

Moderate snow will continue into the early morning hours. The advisories are in effect from 6 p.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Meteorologists began nudging up earlier predictions of 2 inches to 4 inches of snowfall Saturday morning, as some weather forecasting models began suggesting a chance for perhaps a foot or more of snowfall. Major cities such as Indianapolis, Cincinnati and St. Louis have been told to prepare for "significant snowfall" - at least 7 inches in some neighborhoods. Snowfall totals will be a little more south of St. Joseph towards Kansas City and east towards Chillicothe where five to seven inches is expected.

Strong winter winds held temperatures below 40 degrees for the first time this year on Thursday, which ended a 28-day streak of above normal temperatures at Reagan National Airport, our longest stretch of "warmth" in winter in over a decade.
