NFL Divisional Round weekend: X-factors for each game

The NFL could move the AFC Championship Game to an alternate venue if the Los Angeles Chargers and Indianapolis Colts win their road games this weekend.

That would entail both the Chargers, as the five seed, and the Colts, as the sixth seed, pulling upsets this weekend.

Dignity Health Sports Park seats less than 30,000 fans.

"Playing a game of that magnitude in a stadium that small is a big issue to a lot of people around here", a source told La Canfora.

League sources suggested that, should the Colts beat the Chiefs on Saturday afternoon, discussions about moving the AFC title game to the Coliseum and contingencies about playing a Sunday/Monday schedule would likely begin in earnest, with nothing made official until Sunday's results were in. La Canfora writes that moving the AFC Championship Game out of Dignity Health Sports Park - should the Chargers host - "is something many within the National Football League offices would support".

The Los Angeles Rams on Saturday night will host the Dallas Cowboys as 7-point betting favorites, while Sunday's NFC Divisional Playoff clash has the top-seeded New Orleans Saints taking on the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles as 8-point home chalk on the point spread.

The Rams host the Cowboys on Saturday at the Coliseum while the Chargers travel to New England on Sunday to kick off against the Patriots. And, given the way the playoffs have sorted out to this point, it remains possible that L.A. teams host both championship games. "I would expect there to be conversations about that through the weekend as things happen".
