Thanking the Prime Minister for his time and the reduction of GSTon movie tickets, Karan wrote, "Powerful and timely conversations can bring about change and this was one of what we hope will become a regular conversation". Meeting the Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi today was an incredible opportunity.

Reportedly, the meeting was organised by Karan Johar and Mahavir Jain, to discuss the young talent of the entertainment industry about their participation and contribution towards nation-building. When the youngest country (in demography) joins hands with the largest movie industry in the world, we hope to be a force to reckon with. Karan Johar, who attended the meeting even past year, this time got some noted Bollywood personalities - both from commercial and art cinema, for a second meeting. Besides Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor, director Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, and Rohit Shetty also presented the film industry. Many of them also asked why the Indian filmstars lacked spine to criticise the government like their counterparts in Hollywood routinely did.
