Today, Liverpool are linked with James Tarkowski...

Burnley are determined to hold onto their in-demand defender James Tarkowski, amid reported interest from Liverpool.

The Croat joined Joe Gomez and Joel Matip on the sidelines, as Klopp also revealed Virgil Van Dijk is also suffering from a mystery illness.

Liverpool have enjoyed an excellent first half to the season as Jurgen Klopp's side now sit four points clear at the top of the Premier League table and have a bumper Champions League last-16 tie with Bayern Munich to look forward to.

Camacho, 18, made his senior debut when he started Liverpool's 2-1 FA Cup third round defeat at Wolves.

Liverpool Told To Shell Out Eye-Popping £50m For Premier League Defender
Klopp should turn to Hoever rather than attempt Tarkowski quick-fix

Liverpool hope to have the duo available again soon but Gomez is still a few weeks away from returning to action after fracturing his leg against Burnley earlier in the season so Klopp will be forced to deploy midfielder Fabinho alongside van Dijk at Brighton on Saturday.

Sporting have made several offers to take the winger on loan for the second half of the season and were hopeful of bringing Camacho back to his native homeland.

However, it's unlikely that Liverpool would shell out £50m for his services, although while a loan move could be an outside option, given Burnley's precarious position in the table boss Sean Dyche would simply not let this happen.

Tarkowski has continued to be a regular for Burnley this season but they've struggled to replicate the form they showed previous year and it seems Liverpool were hoping to lure him to Anfield on a cheeky loan deal.
