Ohio State quarterback Tate Martell has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal, according to a source. This was discovered after viewing his name in the transfer portal online.

Jeremy Birmingham of Lettermen Row reports that Miami and West Virginia could be potential destinations for Martell. He was expected to take over the starting job for Ohio State next season, but the transfer of ex-Georgia quarterback Justin Fields signaled uncertainty for Martell's time in Columbus.

That being said, I have no doubt that Martell would have been highly successful at Ohio State, and will still be a handful for opposing defenses no matter where he goes. Fields as applied for a waiver to play immediately, and the Toledo Blade reported that a decision from the NCAA could be made as early as February.

Martell, a former four-star prospect and the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback in the class of 2017, completed 23-of-28 passes for 269 yards and one touchdown in 2018, and added 128 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Martell spent his freshman year of high school in the San Diego area before he transferred to Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, one of the nation's top recruiting factories.
