James was evaluated on Thursday by the Lakers' medical staff, who said the healing of his groin injury is progressing.

While receiving daily treatment, James' only on-court work during his recovery has been light shooting.

James has not played since suffering the injury in the third quarter of Los Angeles' win over the Warriors on December 25.

Hence, LeBron was kept on a day-to-day assessment, one that did not quite give the feedback that the fans wanted it to. The team will release another update on his status on January 16.

The Los Angeles Lakers announced LeBron James continues to recover from a strained groin that has sidelined him since Christmas Day, and he is now cleared to increase on-court functional basketball movements. But, he has missed the Lakers' last seven games.

The Lakers have gone 3-5 in his absence, including consecutive road wins earlier this week at Minnesota and Dallas.

In 34 games this season, James has averaged 27.3 points per game with 8.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists.
