He told reporters on Wednesday that he plans to play in Sunday's AFC Divisional Round matchup against the Patriots.

Makenna was born November 12 with trisomy 13 - a defective heart condition that left her without a heart valve and required surgery to fix. "She wasn't doing much better, and they had to make a decision".

"She just kept bleeding from her stomach, and when they tried to feed her, it wasn't good for her liver", he said.

"I'm doing pretty good", Mebane said.

According to ESPN, Mebane, his wife Amena and their children Mahailey and Makai were in Omaha, Nebraska after the birth of Makenna to see doctors. "Just trying to take one day at a time". Thank God every day. "I still pray. We're taking it one day at a time".

Mebane is now in his third season with the Chargers where he is one of the captain's on defense. This season, he has 40 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in 12 games. He played the last two games of the regular season, but missed Los Angeles' playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens.
