Apple planning to launch three new iPhones in 2019

Apple Inc plans to launch three new iPhone models this year, including one with an LCD screen, to succeed its struggling XR model, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.

This sounds familiar, but the newest features may come in the phones' cameras.

Apple has reportedly made a decision to stick with the LCD display on the XR until it brings out a new line in 2020, forsaking the OLED screens it reserves for its higher-end models. Many Android handsets, including Google's Pixel 3 XL, combine hardware and software to produce some of the best photos we've seen from any smartphone. The 5.8-inch model, as well as the LCD phone, will get dual-lens cameras instead, the Journal notes. While the XR's successor is said to retain the LCD display of the 2018 model, the 2019 XR will reportedly get the dual-lens camera system that is now only found on the iPhone XS series.

Despite reports that there's some trouble in Apple's iPhone division, the tech giant is planning three new handsets this year, according to a new report.

The XR has struggled to take off since it was launched in October previous year.

Apple has a big year ahead of itself.

Apple does not report individual unit sales for iPhones and iPads in its quarterly earnings reports, so we won't know exactly how many iPhone XRs have sold since its release in October 2018.

"What we want from Apple is something that makes us emotional, even unconsciously-say, truly attractive and sophisticated design that we can't resist", said Atsushi Osanai, a professor at Waseda University in Tokyo who is an expert in electronics.

China's "economy began to slow there for the second half", Tim Cook said. The Cupertino-based company is said to be bringing new camera features to the upcoming iPhone models, including a possible triple camera setup in the iPhone XS Max successor.
