'We have to be careful mental illness doesn't become like a Gucci handbag.

Sophie Turner's Twitter feed has plenty of Game of Thrones and X-Men retweets, plus a whole lot of A+ interaction with her co-star Maisie Williams.

One topic that crops up regularly on Turner's timeline is mental health.

Reacting to her bawdy response, Piers replied: "Hi Sophie, please don't abuse me like this - it's harmful to my mental health". "But please go ahead and shun them back into silence".

A few hours after that tweet, Turner shared a thread addressing people who joke about mental illness.

She said: 'People who think it's okay to make jokes about mental illness, I feel you must be lucky, because surely you don't understand or can't comprehend what it is like to have or know someone with an illness like this'.

She added: "You are not alone, you can manage your illness, and people who make fun of it are the minority... not you. You're so loved. You are NOT a burden".

Great British Bake Off victor Nadiya Hussain, 34, also criticised the comments, writing: "You haven't got a clue".

The Sansa Stark actress then launched into a lengthy statement about the effects of mental health. "They do those with genuine mental illness a great disservice".

Beverley said: 'When I was at my worst I had to pull out of two jobs and I know those companies will never employ me in future.

Approximately one in four people in the United Kingdom will experience a mental health problem each year, according to the charity Mind.
