Nokia 8.1 Plus renders reveal another phone with a hole-punch notch

The first thing we noticed about these renders is that Nokia is following in the vein of other recent devices and using a pinhole for the forward-facing camera to allow for a almost bezel-less display on its next smartphone.

Be sure to check out the 360-degree video below and let us know down in the comments on what you think about the latest leak. Notch designs would cut out a big chunk of the display for camera placement, but most of those cutouts were bigger than they needed to be (probably because manufacturers wanted to copy the sensor-packed iPhone X design).

Apart from the cutout, the Nokia 8.1 Plus will also have a thin chin bezel that will keep the Nokia branding. With the smartphone carrying the Plus name, it's no surprise that the display is said to be 6.22 inches long from corner to corner. The bottom will see a single speaker next to a Type-C port.

OnLeaks speculates that HMD Global - the company that owns the Nokia brand - will market the device as the Nokia 8.1 Plus. Well, starting with the camera - it has a dual rear camera setup with a 12MP main camera with ZEISS Optics and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) technology, while the secondary camera is using a 13MP sensor. You can bet mostly all Nokia phones this year to ship with Android Pie out-of-the-box and the Nokia 8.1 Plus will be no different.

At this point in time it isn't clear when the Nokia 8.1 Plus will see the light of day. This could be the same hole-punch display that was featured in recently-leaked Nokia 8.1 Plus renders. The Nokia 9 PureView is rumoured to come with a more traditional 18:9 display and will highlight a penta-camera system on the back.
